FT Business School Rankings 2012 In the 2012 Financial Times ranking of the top global MBA programmes, Lancaster is ranked 7th in the world and 2nd in Europe in the 'FT Doctoral Rank'.

The FT's criterion for this ranking is 'the number of doctoral graduates from the last three academic years with additional weighting for those graduates taking up a faculty position at one of the top 50 schools in MBA 2011'.

LUMS has one of the largest and best-supported ESRC-recognised PhD (doctoral) programmes in the UK, with academic research in all areas of business and management. 75% of Lancaster University Management School’s research activity has been assessed in the latest UK Research Assessment Exercise (RAE 2008) as world-leading or internationally excellent in terms of originality, significance and rigour, and on this measure Lancaster is 3rd equal in the UK. Virtually all of LUMS' research (95%) is of international standing, as judged by RAE 2008.

LUMS is a dynamic research environment in which doctoral students play a full and active part. We have over 150 full-time and around 70 part-time PhD students drawn from countries all over the world, and a generous Management School PhD scholarship programme. This Financial Times ranking is another confirmation of the outstanding quality of the research environment at LUMS.
