Chinese Consul General praises high-quality LUMS students

On October 28th, the new Consul General of the Chinese Embassy in Manchester, Mr Ni Jian, with his colleagues, Mrs Zhang Yihua and Mr Wu Zhaosheng, visited Lancaster University to meet current Chinese students.
The consuls first had a meeting with the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor McKinlay, the Dean of the Management School, Professor Sue Cox, and the Director of Lancaster China Management Centre (LCMC), Professor David Brown.

The consuls then had a meeting with university staff to discuss collaborations in both research and higher education between Lancaster and institutions in China. In the discussion, the committee members spoke highly of the number and quality of Chinese students here at Lancaster University Management School. They were impressed by Lancaster’s achievements in research areas such as environmental, food and low-carbon technology research, as well as our high-quality existing partnerships in China, including new activities such as the China Summer School to introduce UK students to life in China.

Mr Ni and Mrs Zhang in the Q&A session explained the issues with consular protection, notarization for UK education background, and job training/career planning. At last, the consuls sent good wishes for everyone to be successful in their studies and encouraged the Chinese students to contribute to their home country after they graduate.

10月28日，中国驻曼彻斯特总领事倪坚访问兰卡斯特大学，并与在校中国留学生们进行了交流。与倪坚总领事同行的还有主管教育的张艺华领事以及吴招胜领事。倪坚总领事一行首先与代理副校长麦肯利教授，管理学院院长考克斯教授，以及兰卡斯特大学中国管理研究中心主任布朗教授进行了交流，紧接着与中国管理研究中心的各个部门负责人们就展开兰开斯特大学管理学院与中国开展交流合作进行了深入的探讨。议题包括探讨如何鼓励兰卡斯特大学的教员们与中国同行建立学术联系，与曼城总领事馆合作组织兰开斯特大学本科生前往中国学习的可行性，并肯定了在兰开斯特管理学院中国留学生们努力认真的学习态度。
当天下午的讲座上，倪坚总领事向前来的中国留学生们介绍了当前的中英关系，英国的经济形势，以及中国当前的发展情况，既列举了改革开放以来中国取得的惊人成就，又分析了英国在教育和医疗方面的值得中国借鉴之处。倪坚总领事以及张艺华领事接着就领事保护，留学回国人员认证，以及在当前经济形势下的就业等为大家解答疑惑，并一再提醒同学们加强安全意识。 最后，倪坚总领事一行祝愿同学们学业有成，并鼓励大家为祖国的发展贡献力量。
