Paul Sparrow, Director
Paul’s is one of the UK’s leading authorities on international HR and its management. His research focuses on the impact of globalisation on international HRM, changes in the employment relationship, and the nature of strategic competence. In 2011 he was again voted amongst the Top 15 Most Influential HR Thinkers by Human Resources Magazine. An organisational psychologist by training, he is the author of a number of books within the territory of HRM. He has a wide range of international links and combines his extensive writing career with an academic involvement in executive education and consulting. He has deep experience in the commercial world having worked as a consultant in his earlier career with PA Consulting. Martin Hird, Executive Director
Martin has held a range of managerial and educational roles. Following graduation and initial employment with the Dunlop Group he entered higher education becoming Dean of the business faculty at Humberside Polytechnic whilst also operating an OD/Development consultancy. From 1988-2005 he worked for BAE Systems, McLaren Group and Royal Mail in a series of HR Director roles which included responsibility for senior level talent management and leadership development. He is a Fellow at the Centre for Leadership Studies at Exeter University. In addition to research and teaching within the Centre, his role focuses on client liaison and responding to business development opportunities.
Cary Cooper, CBE, Co-Founder
Cary is the author of more than 80 books and is one of Britain's most quoted business gurus. He is Professor of Organisational Psychology and Health. Cary is a former President of the British Academy of Management, a Companion of the British Institute of Management and one of only 3 UK Fellows of the (American) Academy of Management. He was the Founding Editor of the Journal of Organizational Behavior, and is the Editor (together with Professor Chris Argyris of Harvard Business School and Professor Bill Starbuck of New York University as Associate Editors) of the Blackwell Encyclopaedia of Management. He has been an advisor to the World Health Organisation, ILO, and EU in the field if stress management and is Chair of the Sunningdale Institute in the National School of Government. Professor Mike West, Professor of Organizational Psychology
Mike is a Fellow of the British Psychological Society, the American Psychological Association (APA), the APA Society for Industrial/organizational Psychology, The Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, the International Association of Applied Psychologists, The Higher Education Academy, the British Academy of Management and a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. Before joining Lancaster University Management School in April 2011, he served as Executive Dean, Head of Research and Professor of Organizational Psychology, Aston Business School, Aston University. He was also formerly a Member of the Corporate Performance Programme, Centre for Economic Performance, London School of Economics and Political Science from 1992 to 2003. His areas of research interest are team and organisational innovation and effectiveness, particularly in relation to the organisation of health services, organizational effectiveness in manufacturing, employee involvement, and HRM and organizational performance. He lectures widely both nationally and internationally about the results of his research and his ideas for developing effective and innovative organizations.
