Institute for Advanced Studies (IAS)
The Institute for Advanced Studies was founded in May 2003 as a dedicated research centre of Lancaster University with the primary objective of consolidating Lancaster's position as a leading international centre of excellence in interdisciplinary and postdisciplinary research in Management, Social Sciences and the Arts and Humanities.
Lancaster University Management School plays a key role in the IAS. Professor Margaret Hogg (Department of Marketing) is Deputy Director.
The Knowledge Based Economy programme comprises a series of two-day workshops, some of which are organised by LUMS faculty. Many of these workshops may be of interest to a variety of management scholars.
