BSc (Hons) in Marketing (Study Abroad) is one of our undergraduate degree programmes offered in the Marketing Department. 

Overview

This three- year degree differs from the BSc in Marketing degree in that you are offered the opportunity to spend their second year studying at one of our partner institutions in North America or Australasia. Qualification for the year abroad will also depend on first year performance at Lancaster.

Lancaster University offers several Marketing degrees but the BSc (Hons) in Marketing (Study Abroad) is specifically designed to help you become an effective marketing professional, providing you with the opportunity to get international experience before you graduate. 

Requirements

  • A-levels: Normally AAA Including Maths
  • General Studies: Accepted
  • Vocational A-levels: Up to six units can come from vocational A-levels
  • Preference: Three A2-levels
  • Key skills: Not included in offer
  • GCSE: Maths and English Language grade A
  • Scottish Highers: AAABB
  • Irish Leaving Cert: 540 pts
  • International Baccalaureate: 36 overall with 16 points from the best three HL courses
  • IELTS: 6.5
  • BTEC: DDD
  • Mature students: applications welcome; recent experience of formal assessed study is required A/AS-level grades: AAB or 28 A level points

First Year

In the first year you will take three subjects.  First, there is introductory marketing; you then choose one other marketing related subject such as Accounting and Finance, Economics, Law, Management and Organisation, Management Science, Media, Film and Culture Studies, Psychology, Sociology, Statistics and Computing for Management.  The third subject is a free choice – you may choose from any subject offered in the University. 

Second Year

Students take the equivalent of the following core subjects; marketing research, marketing simulation, consumer behaviour, marketing in the supply chain, plus other optional subjects in marketing and advertising or a related discipline.  Detailed advice on appropriate courses is given on an individual basis, and contact is maintained throughout the year. Marks achieved whilst studying abroad count towards the final degree classification.

Final Year

Core subjects include strategic marketing, marketing research and consultancy project, advanced topics in consumer behaviour or organisational marketing plus other optional subjects in marketing and advertising or a related discipline.  

Assessment

The assessment offers an equal weighting overall between coursework and examinations.

Four of the eight units assessed are undertaken whilst studying abroad.

By focusing on both business and consumer needs this course offers a smarter approach to the theory and practice of international marketing.
