Requirements

A-level: AAB, with an additional requirement for a B grade or better in A-level Mathematics or Further Mathematics.

General Studies: Accepted as one of 3 A-levels 

GCSE: Maths and English Language, min grade B in both

Scottish Highers: ABBBB plus Grade A at Advanced Higher Maths

Irish Leaving Cert: Offers will be made on the basis of 5 or 6 Higher level subjects. Please contact the Undergraduate Admissions Office (01524 592028) for further information.

International Bacc: 34 points overall with 16 points from the best 3 HL subjects, inc 6 in HL Maths 

IELTS: 6.5

First Year

AC.F 100 Introduction to Accounting and Finance
Part I course in Computer Science (C.sc 103)
ECON 100 Economics

Other Years

Second year: AC.F 212, AC.F 213, AC.F 214, MNGT 212, (all half-unit courses)

Third year: Four third-year AC.F half-unit courses, choosing two per term (M and L).  Must include AC.F 301 and 311.  MSCI 224 may be substituted for one of the AC.F half-units.

Two units in Computing specified by the Computing department.

For second year there are 4 half units specified by the Computing department. 

Further Information

The BA/BSc (Hons) Accounting, Finance and Computer Science degree encourages students to explore links between the fields of accounting and finance and computer science. This degree provides a strong basis for a future career in accountancy, management and finance related fields where skills in both areas are required.  The degree encompasses study of the key elements of study of both accounting and finance, including study of preparation of information for companies’ external and internal reporting requirements, financial strategy and investment management.  This degree also involves study of the key parts of the computer science discipline, including programming, web technology and systems architecture. 

In addition a Financial Computing Project is undertaken as one of the course units in Computing.

Accreditation 

This degree does not attract automatic exemptions in the respect of accounting bodies who grant exemptions via the Board of Accreditation of Accounting Courses (BAAEC). The Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (ACCA) operates outside BAAEC and currently offers Foundation Stage exemption in respect of this degree scheme. ACCA does not currently have any requirements about which units have to be taken in order to gain Foundation Stage exemption.

Assessment

The assesment of this degree is on the basis of eight units (sixteen half-units) of assessment.
