All Accounting & Finance single major students are required to take AC.F 211, AC.F 212, AC.F 213 and AC.F 214 (see below) which together contribute four of the sixteen Part II half-units (two of eight Part II units). Also for degree purposes, all major students must also take quantitative methods courses appropriate for their particular degree (see details below).
First Year
Students take AC.F 100, ECON 100 and any third subject.
Other Years
Second year: AC.F 214, AC.F 215, MNGT 212, ECON 212. One from AC.F 211, AC.F 212, AC.F 213. Three further half-units (can include AC.F 308).
Third year: AC.F 302, AC.F 305, AC.F 321, AC.F 324 and four further half-units. Students must take AC.F 308 in Part II of their degree (either in the second or third year).
Further Information
The BSc (Hons) Finance degree is a specialist degree that examines financial decision-making, risk management and behaviour of financial markets. The key finance theory and essential concepts are taught during the first and second years of the course, providing an excellent foundation for higher-level study in the third year. The third year of this degree focuses upon an array of topics including international financial markets, merger analysis and option pricing. The specialist material taught in the third year reflects research expertise of the finance academic staff in the Department of Accounting and Finance at Lancaster University Management School.
Assessment
The assessment of this degree is on the basis of eight units (sixteen half-units) of assessment.
