Overview

The BA (Hons) in Economics and Mathematics is run jointly with the Department of Mathematics and Statistics which, like the Management School, is a top-rated (6*) in terms of its research and has an 'excellent' rating for its teaching. The scheme allows students to combine four units of Economics with four units in Mathematics, chosen from the various options offered by each department.

Requirements

A-level: AAB including grade A in Maths or Further Maths

GCSE: Maths and English Language, min grade B in both

Scottish Highers: ABBBB plus Grade A at Advanced Higher Maths

International Bacc: 34 pts overall with 16 from 3 HL subjects, inc 6 in HL Maths 

IELTS: 6.5

BTEC: DDM/DDD

First Year

Compulsory modules: ECON 100 plus a selection of first year modules in Mathematics.

Other Years

In Years 2 and 3 (Part II) students take four units in Economics and four units in Mathematics.

Compulsory modules in Economics: 

Year 2: ECON 220, ECON 221, ECON 222 and ECON 223 or ECON 207/208 and two further Economics modules.

Third year options are chosen from the range of ECON 300 series modules.
