Economics is a long-established discipline whose relevance to the world of business, government, international relations and academia is widely acknowledged. The design of our first-year courses accommodates students with an A-level background and those who have not studied Economics at school or college level. We train our students to analyse present day policy issues with the aid of the tools of information technology.

Requirements

A-level: AAB

General Studies: Accepted as one of 3 A-Levels

GCSE: Maths and English Language, min grade B in both

Scottish Highers: ABBBB

International Baccalaureate: 34 points overall (with 16 points from the best three higher level courses)

IELTS: 6.5

BTEC: DDD/DDM

First Year

Econ 100 and ECON 103. The remaining Part I subject can be chosen from the full list of Part I subjects, subject to any prerequisites, quotas and timetabling constraints.

Other Years

The single major degree structure comprises a minimum of six units in Economics. This leaves a maximum of two units available either for minor subjects or for additional Economics units.

Compulsory units are ECON 212, ECON 220, ECON 221, ECON 222, ECON 223, ECON 226 and ECON 227
