Fees and scholarships
UK and EU students
The fee for all Management School undergraduate degree programmes for the academic year 2009/10 is £3,225 per year for UK and EU students, subject to year on year government inflation.
Overseas (non-EU) students
The fee for overseas (non-EU) students for 2009/10 is £11,600 per year for non-EU students, subject to confirmation, if the year is spent studying at Lancaster.
The fees for years not spent studying at Lancaster are lower:
- Placement year: 20% of full year fee
- Year studying abroad (other than EU): 50% of full year fee
- One year studying in the EU: no fee for UK/EU students (subject to the continuation of EU arrangements), 50% of full year fee for non-EU students
- A further year studying in the EU: 50% of full year fee
The fees for subsequent years have not yet been determined, but there is likely to be a year-on-year rise to cover inflationary costs.
Scholarships and bursaries – UK students
A scholarship of £1000 per year will be awarded to you if you achieve three A grades at A-Level (or the equivalent in other qualifications – please ask us for details of what this means if you are unsure) and make Lancaster your first choice.
Your scholarship will initially be guaranteed just for the first year of study, but it will be renewed after the first year if you remain on a LUMS degree, subject to satisfactory academic performance – the precise meaning of this will be explained to you when you arrive. We expect that over 80% of scholars will retain their awards throughout their degrees.
In addition, Lancaster University bursaries are available to students from low-income families.

If you hold a scholarship and/or a bursary it will still be paid in full for your placement year or year abroad.
Scholarships – non-EU students
LUMS will be awarding scholarships of £1000 per year to Overseas undergraduate students (i.e. those classified as 'Overseas' for fees purposes). These scholarships are specifically intended to contribute to the cost of fees.
In order to qualify for this award, you will need to meet conditions slightly in excess of those required for guaranteed admission and make Lancaster your first choice. The precise conditions for obtaining a scholarship will be explained in your offer letter. If your offer is unconditional it will be made clear to you when the offer is made whether or not the offer includes a scholarship.
Your scholarship will initially be guaranteed just for the first year of study, but it will be renewed after the first year if you remain on a LUMS degree, subject to satisfactory academic performance – i.e. passing all modules at the first attempt, with an overall average of at least 55%.
If you hold a scholarship it will still be paid in full for your placement year or year abroad.
The LUMS Bursary Fund
The LUMS Bursary Fund is only available to current students who are experiencing exceptional financial difficulty.
