MIT aims and philosophy
The BSc (Hons) in Management and Information Technology (MIT) programme has been designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully enter the workplace. MIT offers an unrivalled platform to launch your career in business – whether you’re looking for a high-flying and rewarding career in management or consultancy, or as an IT professional.
It is part of the IT Management for Business scheme endorsed by e-skills uk and leading employers. The aim is to provide you with a head start by making you employable from day one. Management and Information Technology is designed to give you the ability to apply IT to business situations, evaluate technical knowledge and confidently take on project – and team – management in IT-related business scenarios.
The programme also recognises that relevant process skills such as problem structuring, project management and group working are vital. The degree is run in conjunction with E-skills UK (who officially represent the IT industry to government in the UK) and is supported by many major employers. It also benefits from having been designed and run in partnership with business professionals – such as Accenture, BA, BT, Deloitte, Ford, Fujitsu, HP, IBM, Proctor and Gamble, RBS, Sainsbury, Morgan Stanley and Unilever – ensuring course content that is relevant to today’s, and tomorrow’s, business world.
Overall, our graduates will have both the necessary conceptual and practical knowledge to identify organisational, management and technical problems and deal with them in an appropriate manner. MIT students will:
- develop skills and knowledge that meet the need of industry today
- have the opportunity to meet numerous employers throughout the degree
- practise interview techniques with employers
- hear first-hand business issues and solutions from industry speakers via the Guru Lecture programme
- develop the high level of personal and interpersonal skills demanded by employers.
