Lancaster has been ranked first out of 21 university cities for safety, according to a survey in a national newspaper. The Independent's Complete University Guide lists the crime statistics which are most relevant to students for cities with two or more universities.

New finance Masters class gets off to flying start
A new cohort of students arrived in Lancaster in late September excited to start their Masters study in Accounting and Finance. This year the total number of students enrolled on the MSc in Finance and the MSc in Accounting and Financial Management is 120, with 27 different nationalities represented - making it a truly international class.
Telegraph: 'Workers over 60 are surprise key to McDonald's sales'
The Telegraph covers new research undertaken by Lancaster's Centre for Performance-Led HR on behalf of McDonald's, that finds that customer satisfaction levels were on average 20% higher in those outlets that employed kitchen staff and managers aged over 60. "The research clearly demonstrates the very real business value of recruiting an age diverse workforce," says Professor Paul Sparrow.
Research
Research is at the heart of life at Lancaster. Three quarters of the Management School’s research activity is world leading or internationally excellent in terms of originality, significance and rigour, and virtually all its research (95%) is of international standing.
