Ashni Singh (Guyana)

PhD in Accounting and Finance, 2001

A particularly important reason for my choice of the Lancaster Accounting and Finance doctoral programme was faculty reputation. The Accounting and Finance Department has several internationally distinguished researchers among its faculty. This made it possible for me to observe and learn from research of the highest standards. This also enabled me to enjoy the highest quality of supervision and advice.

In addition to the excellent guidance of my supervisors, I also benefited from the formal training component of the doctoral programme. This component included doctoral seminars and courses in accounting, econometrics and research method. This training helped me to identify current and emerging issues of interest, develop my own ideas, and acquire the analytical tools required for rigorous research.

The doctoral programme aims to produce rounded and competent researchers who can demonstrate, through their thesis, the ability to conduct original and independent research to high international standards. I believe that Lancaster's accounting and finance department is well equipped, in terms of both human and material resources, to achieve this objective. I would highly recommend the programme.
