What is Management Science? and what sort of careers does it lead to?

Management science involves the investigation, development and application of solutions to real managerial and organisational problems, using mathematics, project management, systems thinking, and information systems design. Often, these solutions involve computerisation, and information systems and organisational change. It also requires knowledge of the industry and functional business areas.

Summer Research Internships

The Department of Management Science participates in various undergraduate, graduate and PhD degree programmes which will provide you with the logical, mathematical, project management, systems thinking, and information systems and technology skills that are much in demand. Careers include: general management; technical roles; project management; and information systems management. Graduates can find work in consultancy organisations, such as Cap Gemini or Accenture; in operations research (OR), operations management (OM), strategy formulation, or information systems (IS) groups in British Airways; or in specialist management roles - such as a credit analyst for HSBC, forecaster with British Telecom, or information systems architect with IBM.
