New paintings celebrating Lancaster unveiled at LUMS
Published 20 May 2010
On 14th May staff from across the Management School and University joined together with LUMS students to mark the hanging of two canvasses in the Lancaster Leadership Centre.
The canvasses are large-scale prints of paintings specially commissioned by LUMS from local artist Chas Jacobs, to reflect student impressions of the Lancaster University campus and of Lancaster itself.

Professor Sue Cox, LUMS Dean, thanked Chas for the paintings and spoke of their value to the School and to the wider community. Chas gave an engaging summary of the project which saw the images come into being: from gathering initial ideas through visits to the University campus and meeting with LUMS students, to the incorporation of images representing the history of the city, and finally celebrating the immense value that Lancaster University has contributed to the local area since the University was established in 1964.
Prints of the two paintings are now on sale via Chas’s website. Prints can be ordered directly, and personalised by Chas on request.
A range of prints and other items will be also available for purchase from the University’s Students Union shop in the summer.
