Systems Colloquium in honour of Professor Peter Checkland

Over 80 Lancaster students, alumni and invited guests came together on 20th April to honour esteemed LUMS colleague Professor Peter Checkland and to celebrate the 30-year programme of action research which Peter led at Lancaster.

Professor Frank Stowell (MA Systems in Management, 1982 and PhD Systems, 1989) was one of the attendees at the Peter Checkland Systems Colloquium in April 2012. The event brought to mind the impact that Peter's teaching and Frank's Lancaster experience had on his career and life, as well as the parallels in the 'Lancaster journey' also taken by his daughter, Alison.
Building employer partnerships in China

LUMS’ Postgraduate Careers Adviser, Ajaz Hussain and International Programmes Director, Dr Radka Newton travelled to China in March 2012 to visit and build relationships with key employers, in order to learn more about the China graduate labour market with a view to enhancing the career development services offered by LUMS for students interested in launching a career in China.
Networking at the Work Foundation: Lancaster MBA alumni in London

Athens Alumni Applicant Event

Lancaster University Management School held an event for alumni and applicants in Athens on 5th April, giving prospective students the opportunity to meet graduates of Lancaster, with particular emphasis on Management School postgraduate programmes.
Jon Moulton on Company Turnarounds

Jon Moulton, CEO of venture capital firm Better Capital, gave a masterclass and guest lecture to the Lancaster MBA in March 2012. Moulton, himself a Lancaster graduate, is an acknowledged expert in company turnarounds. Find out more in this video story.
EY graduate gains top marks

Ann Zhuang, who graduated from Lancaster’s EY Degree in July 2011, achieved top marks in her 'Test of Professional Skills in Financial Reporting' in a recent ICAS exam. Ann scored 92 in total and was the most successful candidate in the UK.
Lancaster graduate gets top role with Virgin Atlantic in India

Stephen King, who graduated from Lancaster University Management School in 2002 with a BSc in Operational Research and Operations Management, was appointed as General Manager-India for Virgin Atlantic in November 2011.
